The day started out snowy. We walked in the snowfall the mile to the light rail station and went to downtown Denver again. It was snowing really hard in Englewood but no snow in Denver! Temps were in the low 30's all day but we were dressed for it so we weren't too cold. We got off at the Convention center and walked the few blocks to the Denver Art Museum and spent almost 3 hours looking at modern/contemporary art, western American art and textile art. We even MADE art for an ongoing tapestry. Saw some amazing pieces!!! My favorite piece was 4 twelve -foot high purple bathrobes on a white wall. The robes ended in a pool of purple velvet on the ground. Stunning! See the Foxes in the pictures- they were cool, too.
After the DAM, we walked quite a few blocks to the Molly Brown Museum (as in the Unsinkable Molly Brown). It was her home and it was gorgeous. We only stayed for a video of her life but it was very neat. We then walked to the 16th street Mall. It was also quite far away and we saw some beautiful churches along the way as well as one of Denver ' s dicier sections of town. But we made it and took a free shuttle (Denver has a GREAT transportation system) to the other end of the pedestrian mall. We got off near the Millennium Bridge and walked to the bridge and up the stairs to see "the 1st cable - stayed bridge using post-tensioned structural construction." It was just a pretty bridge! :)
By now my feet were telling me to get off them so we walked back up 16th street Mall to Larimer Square (in LoDo- Lower Downtown), Denver 's hippest block, and ate at The Market: an old fashioned market and eating place. We then continued up 16th street trying to get back to the light rail station but we got turned around and ended up walking about 10 more blocks than we needed to! Yikes! I felt like I was back on the trail and, boy, was I feeling it!! It felt great to get on the train! So we got to our station and walked the mile back home. It was hard to believe that there was no evidence of the couple of inches of snow that we had walked in that morning. Once we got home we just sat and relaxed. I'm sure our feet walked a good 10 miles. Loved it!!
