Day 3

OMG!  So now that we dropped 15 lbs off the cart life was a little easier today.  For a little while.  My pack is still too heavy for me so we decided to put the pack on the cart because bill needed more weight in the back.  I pushed using the handle in the back and he pulled.   Win win for both of us!  Beautiful weather, sunny, high 60s with a breeze but we still sweated a lot!!  Unfortunately, the directions from ADT were incorrect. ... said we only had 9 miles to do to the campsite. ..turned out to be 13.74.  It was not pretty.   See the pic of bill,  he was wiped out.   Anyway we are staying at this camp site for a couple of days to rest our feet (which feel like they've been beaten with a stick- no lie.
Trying to eat but no appetite yet.  We are doing good tho, truly.

Forgot picture!

Day 1 - we're here!

And so it begins. ...  we are set up and in good shape.   2 cool things happened today:  at breakfast this morning a lady complimented my boots and now she's eagerly awaiting news of our adventure.   Thanks Fran!  At a break on the drive we met Mary who ALSO complimented my boots.  Livy, I'm stylin'!!  Secondly,  we overshot our destination by about 20 miles (still in the car) and the whole time we were on the wrong track it was cloudy and grey.  As soon as we found the right way the sun came out and it has been beautiful ever since!   KARMA!

Leaving home - it's not as easy as you may think.  It feels like getting deployed.  You're excited about the future but leaving family and friends is hard. But the crew is ready - and the best!   We will be challenged, but it will be FUN!   We're glad you will be with us on our adventure

3 days

All our stuff is in the backyard waiting for us to"practice" pack.  Bought a new stove that is only 1 lb and uses small fuel blocks AND has a small cooking pot.   Got rid of 2 burner camp stove and 5 propane cannisters. ....thank god! !!!  Let's see what else we can chuck. Weather looks awesome,!

Sunday

Saying farewell is so hard.   As excited as we are, some goodbyes are harder than others.  But every day brings us closer to those 1st steps.

9 days to go

Almost ready to go.  2 more days of work then next week can be devoted to fine- tuning the packing.   Lots of emotions to sift thru but am hoping that once the journey begins physical movement will be the focus.
