Grand Canyon

Got to the south entrance at 8:30, watched a very good 30 minute video about this great monument and then we were AWED at our 1st sight!  There is no speech,  there are no words to describe the overwhelming splendour of the Grand Canyon.   If you've seen it you understand,  if you haven't you'll never know.  We spent 4 hours exploring and being scared for those crazy people who climbed/walked out on ledges and stood on the edge before the mile drop.   More power to them!   We saw some female elk just grazing along the path we were on and got some close pictures.   They were less than 10 feet away.   THEN...... we walked a path rarely used and we walked through a HERD!!!!!  It was all females and they were laying down,  standing,  walking,  grazing.  There were about 30 of them on both sides of us and they just watched as we walked by.  It was glorious and a little unnerving!   So very COOL!  :)

We left this fantastic sight and made our way south to Sedona.  Traveled down Rt 89A which was strikingly gorgeous even if it was so very steep.  Those red rocks!!!  OMG!  Drove through a pretty downtown and found a close motel.  Walked to the Visitors Center, got talking to the people there and we got a free night's stay by going tomorrow to one of those hotel presentations.   So, Sedona sights all day instead of just a few  hours!  Yeah!

Forgot to mention that yesterday a man came up to me and asked about my Irish coat.  He told me that he had bought the same coat for his wife about 10-15 years ago which is when I got mine and she always gets compliments about it just like me.   That was kinda cool!
