We're in Arizona

I will try to post today's happenings but my sister, Laurie, does not have wi-fi so we shall see how this works.

Left Grants, NM this morning in 19° and cold!  Drove through God's country.....just beautiful!!!!!!!   Got to Gallup, NM and stopped at "Indian City," just a small shop on the Continental Divide and bought some Indian made things.   Saw a "Hogan" which is a type of Indian dwelling.   Made out of lots of logs which is surprising since there aren't a lot of trees around.

Continued into Arizona and stopped at the Petrified Forest - decided that this was a must see and will come back in a few days.   Then we stopped near the famous Meteor Crater and will come back to see that as well.   As we drove through the mountains from Flagstaff to Scottsdale we stopped a couple of times at scenic pull offs.  I didn't realize there were so many mountains!   (I maintained my composure for the most part :)  ).  Saw our first cactus of the trip and then we saw hundreds of the giant cactus - saguaro?   That was a very cool site to see!  And palm trees!   What a huge difference from the east coast.....such a complete opposite experience.   And the temperature was 77°!!!!!!

Made it to Laurie's at 3:30 where she was waiting for us with a Coors beer.....she really knows me!  Got settled in and had a great evening just talking and planning our stay.  Lots of fun things to do and relatives to visit.   It's going to be an exciting visit.   Can't wait to share it with our faithful followers!
