We got a great start this morning but at noon we had to stop 53 miles before the border of CO. So, we are still in Kansas - Colby, KS to be exact. The snow, icy roads and 20-30 mph winds were just enough to make us decide to let Nature have her way since she had dropped 4 in of snow in Denver and we would have been driving the whole way in nasty conditions.
Before we stopped we saw some really cool things. The attached picture is a panoramic view of some of the last tallgrass Prarie that used to stretch across many states from Iowa to Minnesota and more. We saw many large windmills across the landscape and I know why since I wrestled with the wind to keep the car on the road. We saw tumbleweed going right across the road in front of us! I'm such a Hick to be so excited about that! :) And we saw birds just hovering in the wind; not moving, just......hanging. COOL!!
